International Surfing Day Choose EarthPositive Apparel T-Shirts

Low carbon organic apparel a natural choice for over 100 events globally on surfing’s big day

Continental Clothing Company, in celebration of International Surfing Day’s 5th Anniversary on June 20th, 2009 and at the request of Surfing Magazine, are to be participants in the days promotional events; supplying their unique, and award winning low carbon 100% certified organic cotton EarthPositive™ Apparel T-shirts around the world as environmental promotional items.

On June 20th, 2009 surfers globally will wax their boards, paddle out and catch the waves in honor of International Surfing Day, presented by Monster Energy. As is tradition each year, surfers will do their part to give back to the oceans, waves, and beaches through various organized events such as clean-ups and restoration projects courtesy of the Surfrider Foundation. In addition to over 100 coastal events taking place worldwide, ISD “challenge” sponsors are hosting a variety of activities, ranging from filmmaking, to art showcases, trash challenges and surf contests that the public will compete in to win prizes through various activities. This year’s “challenges” are sponsored by Electric, Ocean Minded, Matix, DVS, O’Neill, Reef, Sector Nine, Globe, Vans, Volcom, Body Glove, Patagonia, Billabong, Quicksilver, Rip Curl, Ecousable and DaKine.

“We are very excited to continue the tradition of incorporating “challenges” into International Surfing Day,” says SURFING Magazine’s editor-in-chief Travis Ferre “and for organic and ethical reasons alone we decided to go with EarthPositive Apparel for our international event T-shirts, as we felt that as a company, Continental Clothing really are the right company for us to partner with, and the fact that their EarthPositive Apparel also measures CO2 over the life cycle of the garments themselves, that this really spoke to us in a big way.”

EarthPositive® Apparel is a driving force in the Continental Clothing product line, and considered by many in the textile industry a practical and immediate solution for all sectors of business to combat climate change directly. The development project for EarthPositive® Apparel was two years to complete, and it is designed to provide a blueprint for ethical and sustainable manufacturing and production.
